The Crossways Schools

Meet The Governors

Crossways Federation Governing Board

Welcome to our school, proudly part of The Leaf Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). A MAT is a group of academies working together under a single Trust

Board to share resources and expertise and improve educational outcomes.

The Trust Board oversees the strategic direction and decision-making, while our school governors work together in a Local Governing Body, operating under a designated scheme of delegation outlining their specific responsibilities.

The role of school governors is to ensure that their school is operating effectively and in line with the trust and school’s vision and policies. Our governors are the champions of Crossways children and advocate for the strongest outcomes for them. They monitor the school’s performance, provide support and challenge to the school leadership team, and support on matters such as staff appointments and pupil exclusions. They also act as an important link between the school and the wider community.

Together through this robust governance framework, we uphold transparency, integrity, and collective responsibility to drive growth and achievement for all.

Being part of the Leaf Trust, means we hold the values of “Belong, Grow, and Succeed” alongside our Crossways school values of “Contribute, Aspire, Respect and Equality”, at the heart of everything we do. It also means we deeply value our community, with each school, including Crossways, being firmly anchored in their local areas, fostering strong relationships and supported through local governance. Our school governors play a crucial role in championing the educational outcomes for all children, ensuring that our school’s vision and values are upheld and actively pursued.

To maintain a strong local voice, our Local Governing Body includes two elected parent representatives and an elected staff member, as well as at least three trust governors from the local community who bring independent experience and voice to the Local Governing Body. This structure enables the whole range of community voices to be heard, importantly including the perspectives and concerns of both families and staff. Working Together, we create an environment where every child can flourish.

All Governors agree to a Trust Code of Conduct, which ensures they undertake relevant training and operate within the Nolan Principles.

The administration of the Local Governing Body is carried out by the Governance Clerk and the Leaf Trust Governance Professional.
